It's really disturbing to see how a low of people hopped onto BLM as a trend, but after only two weeks the world goes silent again. It's incredibly disturbing to see that the same people who made fun of my race, or insensitive comments about my skin marching along side me chanting black lives matter; I appreciate their support, however this is a form of gaslighting- something that a lot of white people do without knowing. It is incredibly uncomfortable for me to see that the very same people, who claim to immerse themselves in black culture, or give themselves the N word pass ( which doesn't exist) stay silent when it comes to innocent black lives being killed. It's sad that I went to a school where if I cut off every single one of my good friends who had made an ignorant or racist comment, I would have very few left.
A SAFE SPACE
A Safe Space is a place where one can share one's experiences as well as reply to others and relate to others. The interviews are here to ask yourself those questions so that you can examine how racism has affected you as a person of color. Especially, given the time that we are in now where thousands of people are protesting for basic human rights, it is important to acknowledge what people of color are going through. Here one can choose to stay anonymous or openly discuss your experience. This is a place to share any facet of your life whether it be something to celebrate or something to mourn.
If you wish to be anonymous you may use this comments area and we can add your writing to the forum.
