How old were you when first awakened to the harsh reality of racism?
Maybe 4 or in 5th grade like 9, it was just an accumulation of little things, and my parents telling me about racist people, so I was making connections and understanding it more.
What would you like to see your community to do to help on the topic of racism?
People should openly talk about it and normalize the conversation instead of making it touchy. Casualize the conversation and make it less blatant in school, school should be more introspective.
What exactly does the Black Lives Matter Movement mean to you?
It's a way to project voice and opinions for black people.
How is life different for you as a person of color?
People of color understand things differently in the world and have to look out for themselves because they can’t go everywhere.
Why do you think that racism is an uncomfortable topic for some people?
People who’ve experienced it and don't want to think about it, ignorant to racism don’t believe in it.

Jokes are said often by peers in the form of microaggressions. Mr. Shaver being blatantly ignorant.
How does racism affect your education/ ability to work on a daily basis ?
I block people who are racist because there is no point in wasting effort so not that much, people take things differently.
How has racism affected your family over time ?
I used to live in Frederick county with an openly racist neighbors and it made us move.
How do you feel about having to educate your non black friends constantly ? Should school and the education system do more to make kids more aware of the harm of their actions and words.
It is very important to teach perspective, I don’t mind teaching it but for the more stubborn people, it takes more persuasion. Being the only black person in class and everyone turns around.
